Lafarge Umiam Mining Pvt. Ltd (LUMPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd. (LSC) recieved distinction in the recently held MEMC Week 2013 – 14 organized under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines, Guwahati Sub – Region.
The theme of the event was “Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation in the Mines of North East”.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the event Regional Controller of Mines, India Bureau of Mines, Kolkata A.B. Panigrahi advised the mine owners to strickly adhere to the approved mining plan and production as per the approved quantity.
Nongtrai Limestone Mine of M/s Lafarge Umiam Mining Pvt. Ltd was awarded the 1st prize in over all performance among the mines in the North East Region during the event. Altogether 15 metalliferous mines from NE Region participated in the event.
LUMPL also received the 1st prizes for Reclamation Rehabilitation (Top Soil Management), Air Pollution Conntrol Measures (Dust Suppression), Installation and used of Mechanical Beatification facilities and Publicity and Propaganda.
