Lafarge Umiam Mining Pvt. Ltd (LUMPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lafaurge Surma Cement Ltd. Bangladesh receive accolades in the recently held North East Metalliferous Mines Safety Week 2013 – 14 organized under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety, Govt. of India. The theme of the celebration was “To enhance safety in mine workers along North East Metalliferous Mines and make them aware to work with safety”.
The final day function was held at the Shillong Club here recently where Deputy D.G, DGMS, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Govt. of India Utpal Saha was the chief guest.
Saha advocated that safety participation should be cascaded and practiced right to the grassroots level. He further stated that growth of any industry or nation could be ensured only by ensuring health & Safety of mine workers.
